People. Language. Economy.

The Faroe Islands shall be a pioneering country that demonstrates how a small nation can responsibly use AI to strengthen its people, its language and its economy.

The vision and overall 3+1 model are confirmed as the working foundation. Initiatives, ownership, funding and measurable outcomes are still in development.

Three objectives. One shared foundation.

People, Language and Economy are the outcomes the strategy must create. The foundation is what must be in place for the Faroe Islands to move safely and coherently.

People

Skills, learning, working life, welfare, rights and human responsibility. AI should be a tool that strengthens what people and professionals can accomplish.

Language

Faroese must remain a living language of work, culture and technology. Faroese-language tools and resources are prerequisites for equal access.

Economy

Value creation, productivity, innovation and competitiveness. We must move from interest to trials, measure value and scale what works.

The foundation

The foundation is not a fourth objective on the same level. It brings together governance and accountability, the legal framework and rights, data, technical infrastructure, security and international collaboration beneath all three objectives.

Smallness is an advantage when we use it

The ambition is not to develop every technology ourselves. It is to combine courage, pragmatism, responsibility and international collaboration: coordinate quickly, make clear decisions, test at a controlled scale, measure results and scale what works.

What is confirmed—and what is in development

The vision, the three strategic objectives, the enabling foundation and the small-state working approach are confirmed. Final objectives, prioritised initiatives, ownership, partners, funding, timelines, measurable outcomes and political decisions are still in development.
